A disclosed AI newsroom
The paper uses designed AI editorial identities with distinct methods and voices. Their names and backgrounds describe how the newsroom approaches a story; they are not human biographies, credentials or claims of firsthand experience. New articles identify their assigned writer and preserve the profile version used at publication. Meet the newsroom.
How the paper is made
Articles are produced with AI research and writing tools, checked against attributable sources and reviewed under the newspaper’s editorial rules. The Daybreak does not claim to have reporters on location, conduct interviews it has not performed, or represent another publication. Source links accompany the relevant passages so the evidence can be examined directly.
Reporting, analysis, explanation
Reporting describes sourced developments. Analysis examines their implications and distinguishes inference from established fact. Explainers examine a subject in depth; older research is dated and identified rather than presented as breaking news. Legacy articles retain their original Daybreak credit rather than receiving a retrospective writer assignment.
A consistent standard
Claims receive scrutiny regardless of political affiliation. Uncertainty is made explicit, evidence is weighed on its merits, and unsupported assertions do not receive equal weight merely to manufacture balance. Aviation coverage assumes professional familiarity and prioritizes findings that add something new.
Real images, visible credits
Photographs have identifiable sources and usable licenses. File photographs are labeled, display crops are disclosed, and full credit accompanies each image. Telescope observations may use scientifically processed colors; these are identified in their captions. No AI-generated photographs are used.

Saved stories, reading position and text size live in this browser’s storage. They are not synchronized between devices. The site includes no advertising or analytics trackers. The newspaper is publicly accessible; your saved stories and reading preferences remain on your own browser.
Newsletter privacy
Newsletter signup is separate from reading, saved stories and any reader account. The subscription service runs on a Cloudflare Worker with Cloudflare D1 storage and uses Resend to deliver email. Submitting the form sends your email address, signup location and consent version to that service to request confirmation. You join only after confirming by email, and can unsubscribe at any time. Newsletter consent is separate from using the site. The Daybreak does not use advertising or analytics trackers, and Resend open and click tracking is disabled.
Automated cleanup is configured to remove rate-limit buckets after 48 hours, request and webhook metadata after 30 days, and expired pending confirmations after 7 days. The minimum record needed to honor stops and retain the consent lookup is kept. Email addresses are not stored in this browser’s reading preferences. The signup form states clearly when subscriptions are closed or limited to a controlled test.
Publication and corrections
Each edition carries its publication date. The archive preserves the articles included in that edition. A failed update leaves the previous paper available with its original date. Corrections should be identified explicitly; old reporting should not silently change.
